While Mirinda was attending her final meeting at one of the boards she sits on, I spent the day packing, sorting, posting items for free and, generally, making a mess. While I had some success with people taking some stuff, by the end of the day, I still hadn’t managed to get rid of a single bed and the linen press. These things are turning into a big problem.
9 days to go
Though, before starting the work for the day, I went shopping.
In Starbucks I saw Jade, possibly for the last time. I complimented her on her pink hair and gave her a hug before saying goodbye. As I’ve been doing lately, I told Sue how many days I had left. It’s actually starting to feel like leaving the family to go overseas. Kind of like when we did it back in 1998.
While baristas come and go, Sue has been the manager for many years and I’ve been a customer for longer than that. I even predate the name badges. It’s a pity I didn’t note the first time I visited. It would be nice to know how long I’d been coming in for a latte.
Back at home, I was busy moving piles of books around when I had a call from the real estate agents. Out of the viewings yesterday, one couple wanted to take out a lease. The others had a few notes but, given we managed some tenants, I’m not sure what we’re supposed to make of that. We know the things that need fixing. Still, very generous of them to let us know. Mirinda will call tomorrow and find out what those notes consist of.
Then it was back to sorting wheat from chaff, keep from give away.
BeReal went off while I was sorting through the toys from my office, so, obviously, I snapped them spread out on the kitchen counter. Nicole noticed the resin fig from so many years ago. She commented on it, recognising it immediately. I said I had the painting as well and snapped that next.
She painted it in 2002. I bought it, I think, for £50 and she said it was the first artwork she’d ever sold. It is obviously coming to Sweden with us.
