Today saw the end of the third Ashes test. And, just like the first two, it came down to the wire and was very exciting. With Australia bowling and England at bat, the result was never obvious. Eventually, though, England won by three wickets. Nail-biting to the end.
13 days to go
After lunch, I was listening in the park, with the girls, when a woman walked by and asked what the score was. I told her and she shook her head, bemoaning the fact that the English team were so bad. When I told her it was pretty good for me she realised I was Australian and shook her head even more.
“My sister is visiting from Australia and hasn’t stopped rubbing my nose in it,” She said.
For the final overs, as England batted to victory, I was sitting on a recliner, gripped by the excitement. My thoughts went to the woman in the park and how happy she would now be.
The TMS team see this Ashes series as a revitalisation of test cricket. If today was anything to go by, it certainly looks like it.
