Mirinda went into Stockholm this morning for an InternationsGo wander around Stockholm University. As she was leaving, she suggested I take the girls into Trosa for our walk. I don’t know why she suggested it but, as it turns out, it was a good call.
Today, down by the park at the harbour end of the river, there were stalls set up and a chap making announcements over a sound system. There were groups of people milling around and a big fire engine. It was all very festive. There was also a boat that people were taking tours of. If I’d not had the girls with me, I’d have happily clambered aboard.
Today was Boat Safety Day. I guess it’s because more people are turning up every day as the season progresses, and there’s going to be a lot of boats in the harbour and on the river. I’m guessing this happens every year.
Something else that happens every year is the dusting off of the petit train, though in Trosa it’s called The Blue Train which has nothing to do with Agatha Christie and everything to do with the colour it’s been painted.
I was sitting outside at the vinbar, having a latte, when it appeared and disgorged a train full of passengers outside the town hall. The train starts at Trosaporten which is where the ICA is. And a free commuter car park. This is a very good thing if it keeps a few cars out of the centrum.
The timetable is rather complex, but can be found here.
Of course, this weekend was a warm-up run for the train as the regular service doesn’t commence until June 26 this year.
Having sat for long enough, we headed down to the boat safety event before slowly making our back home. After all, I had a lasagne to make for dinner and those things don’t prepare themselves.
