Sweden won the Eurovision Song Contest tonight. Loreen and her song, Tattoo, romped home after a bit of a scare at the end. It looked like Finland was going to take the competition with the pubic vote but, no, Loreen was popular with the public too. It’s her second win – she won in 2012 with Euphoria – and she’s only the second person to do that.

While I quite liked the song and was obviously very pleased that Sweden won, Mirinda was not that keen. She voted for the amazing Moldovan entry. And, to be completely honest, I really liked the Moldovan entry as well.
Mirinda had been at Swedish class this morning which came in handy while we waited for Eurovision to start. The programme beforehand was a game show called Muren, during which Mirinda tried translating the questions and multiple choice answers.
We don’t normally like game shows but this made it a lot of fun. In particular, making up a lot of the multiple choice answers from isolated words, like the one about salad and haircuts.
And, talking about haircuts…I had a lovely walk down to Trosa Centrum in order to pay for Mirinda’s from yesterday. She doesn’t yet have Swish, and she didn’t have any cash on her, so she couldn’t pay Liselot on the day. But, Liselot being the generous and trusting person she is, said it was fine for me to drop the money off this morning.
I took the girls and we walked in via the woodland path which meant they managed to get a bit of off-lead action. Though, not wanting to mount the steep hills, I took them back via Smackbottom. Smackbottom is the main road into Trosa from our place. It’s not actually called Smackbottom, but Smäckbrogatan, the actual name, looks enough like it to warrant our version.

Trosa looked lovely. With the onset of the season upon us, there were a few more people than usual milling around the centre of town. There was also a coach full of oldies at the church but it may have been dropping them off in the churchyard.
But, really, the day was all about Eurovision – I made Swedish meatballs for dinner – and the amazing Loreen. And, just imagine, it means that next year, which coincidentally is the 50th since ABBA won with Waterloo, the competition will be hosted in Sweden. If it’s in Stockholm, we’re going to try and get tickets.
