A month ago, when the little truck wooshed around the local streets, picking up the grit, I noticed a triangle of road which had been ignored. I noticed because of the driver’s skill at avoiding it. The reason it was left was because it wasn’t tarmacked. It was a bare patch of ground, covered in grit. Had the little truck gone over it, it would have been scoured.
Then, this morning, we woke to the sounds of workers arriving. They brought with them a big truck of asphalt, a heavy roller and various other implements of road construction. And without any pre-amble, they set to, fixing the road.
As you can see, it was a glorious day. This did not continue. We had waves of rain, then sun, then hail, then rain. It was a very changeable day. Which was a shame because Lisa, Jack and Max were coming over to join Mirinda in walking the dogs.
They came over by ferry, an experience that Lisa enjoyed. The others probably enjoyed it as well, but I didn’t ask them. Mirinda went and picked them up and brought them back to the house for a quick squizz before heading down to the lake with the girls.
I was surprised that Emma didn’t instantly recognise Max but, when she didn’t seem to, I figured it was because of the change of location – it was back at Farnham that they both originally met. Freya, of course, thinks she recognises everyone and anyone.
Anyway, they all enjoyed the walk and sent Mirinda this lovely selfie of them all.
Fortunately, it was during one of the sunnier bits of the day.
It was then back to the ferry for the return trip. They are heading down to Trosa tomorrow by train so we’ll see them there.
But, back to the road repair people…the photo above was taken before I went to the shops and this photo shows what it looked like upon my return about an hour and a half later.
Now that’s what I call efficiency. Though I do wonder why it was not done in the first place. Like, perhaps, when the rest of the roads were laid down originally.
