When Mirinda asked what Amanda especially wanted to see while she was with us, the answer was Drottningholm Palace, the royal residence not far from us. We visited Drotts (as we call it) the last time we were here and loved it. Mirinda didn’t mind revisiting, so they both went today.
Of course, I stayed home and looked after the girls. I started watching a new South Korean programme, recommended by Amanda. It’s called Bad and Crazy and, if the first episode is anything to go by, it’s going to be excellent.
We also had a lovely, long walk, heading towards Älvnäs. Emma suddenly decided to start her season this morning but, regardless, the walk was an excellent escape from the house, though I could have done without the slippy path.
The path looks deceptively clear of ice in the photo above but, don’t be fooled, the snow we had yesterday had been trod into submission, laying flat and in wait for unwary walkers. I felt my feet slip a few times. Of course, it didn’t bother the lone jogger I saw running along it. I will never know how they do it. It’s like they have magnets in their feet.
Drotts closed at 4pm so Mirinda and Amanda were back by half past and we set off for the restaurant, Kolmilan, down by the car ferry for a delicious dinner, generously paid for by our guest.
Over dinner, I was regaled by tales of their day at the palace. The tales included one about a group of Italian men that Amanda was a little too interested in. She followed them up a hill and would have kept following them had Mirinda not held her back.
Speaking of Mirinda, she tried out her Swedish with our waiter, asking him what the time was. He looked very confused so she tried a variety of pronunciations. He remained uncertain. Eventually he admitted he was Spanish. He was studying Swedish as well. I guess he hasn’t reached telling the time yet.
Anyway, the food was lovely, the staff a delight and we had a jolly filling time.
Back at home we were attacked by two very excited dogs. Eventually we all settled down to watch a couple of episodes of Wednesday.
What a colourful meal! Yes she did follow a group of about 15 singing Italian men. Even though there was literally hundreds of empty acres all around us!
