Impassable underpass

While Mirinda and Amanda headed into Stockholm in order to see the inside of the externally ugly royal palace, I was left at home with the girls. And the rain. It rained a lot, later on in the day, on and off. Though not so much heavy, as annoying. Just enough to wet the dogs and make me damp.

Not that it was raining when I went to the centrum to buy some essential soup. I didn’t know I’d need soup so the shopping trip was unexpected. Of course, I felt the unexpectedness of the journey meant I was entitled to stop for a latte at the bageri.

The Old Men’s Club was not in attendance today, so I sat outside and watched the world walk by. It was very pleasant. Mind you, the rain hadn’t started at that stage.

On my way home, I discovered that the Coop removal has progressed to the point where the entire place has been surrounded by Heras fencing. This includes the underpass which is now impassable. It’s not a problem because there’s a pedestrian crossing opposite the bus stop, which makes it safely reachable but, still, I quite liked having the underpass so conveniently placed.

Back at the house, Mirinda and Amanda wrapped themselves in multiple layers and, armed with umbrellas, set off for the bright lights of the big city. I settled down for a day of watching Squid Game, walking the dogs and researching dead soldiers.

At one point, I took the girls for a wet walk around the block. I, therefore, snapped a photo of the blocked underpass.

The Heras fence guys had also erected a huge sign, facing the main road, which spelled out what was happening for the general driving by people. Of course, the sign was in Swedish. However, it was what our landlord said was going to happen.

Big changes are afoot at Täkvista. Here’s a detailed webpage about the plans.

Of course, we won’t see much of it, given it’s not due to be finished until 2025. Though, of course, we will probably see a lot of the early disruption as they build the new bit of road.

Back at the house, I made myself something to eat while Emma kept watch for the return of Mirinda and Amanda.

She remained at her post for quite a while until, like the good little guard dog she is, she leapt from the window sill to greet the returning tourists, who told us all that the inside of the ugly palace is much prettier than the outside.
