Leaping and bounding

My highlight today was finally watching the first episode of 1899. I loved it. Nice and mysterious. Nothing like Dark and yet very similar. Seeing the work of Baran bo Odar again after so long is almost like reconnecting with an old friend. Mind you, I follow his Instagram account, so it almost feels like I’ve been part of the production.

The gout is getting better…or worse from the gout’s point of view. In fact, I am coming along in leaps and bounds. Without any leaping and bounding, at least. Today I managed to walk around without a walking stick. Okay, I was still dragging my foot behind me like a creature from a 1960’s horror film but, it’s still an improvement.

Mirinda will be so pleased when I’m back in the kitchen. She really doesn’t like being the cook and cleaner. She met a friend for lunch at the Holly Bush today so I was fending for myself for dinner. Okay, it was only a salad with a couple of boiled eggs but, even so, I had to stand up to make it.

Then, afterwards, while waiting for the clothes dryer to finish, I washed and cleaned up the kitchen. Hopefully, she’ll feel a lot better about that in the morning. Also, I really, really hope I can have a shower tomorrow. I’m beginning to dislike being around myself.

I should explain that the bathroom is upstairs and there’s no way I’ve been capable of getting up there. Tomorrow, however, it’s a must as we’re off to the Chesil for our usual New Year’s Eve dinner and I’ll need to look (and smell) a little less ‘real’ than at present.

In bigger news today, Vivienne Westwood died. She was 81 and lived an amazing life. As Chrissie Hynde so eloquently put it: “Vivienne is gone and the world is already a less interesting place.
