Gardener Dave and Hannah came today. Mirinda was on her way out and said hi as she was leaving. Hannah asked her if she mostly worked from home. Mirinda said she did. Hannah seemed a bit envious. Mirinda said it would be difficult for Hannah to work from home. It was then suggested that Hannah, actually, worked from other people’s homes. Which cheered her up.
Having waved Mirinda goodbye, the three of us walked around the garden and marvelled at how much stuff was still blooming. I’d already been amazed at the wild rose hips given each one represents an actual bloom from the summer. Which we missed. Obviously there was quite a show.

That’s not to mention the clematis that has suddenly appeared on the fence between us and the Crazies. I think it was planted about five years ago and now decided to bloom in Autumn. And the alstroemeria which is still going strong down the back.
I watched Question Time for lunch and the awful Julia Hartley-Brewer was on, spouting her usual nonsense about the non-existence of climate change. I looked outside and shook my head. Maybe she doesn’t have a garden. Or it’s all concreted over.
Something else I noticed was her day-glo teeth. They reminded me of that episode of Friends when Ross gets his teeth whitened. Why on earth would you do that? I know why Ross did it but why did Hartley-Brewer? She could be used as a warning to shipping over small reefs in the channel.
Anyway, leaving Question Time behind – I don’t know why I watch it because it is so triggering – I took the girls up to the park for a bit of a run around. It was so unseasonally warm, that most people were without coats or fleeces or jumpers. I’m back in shorts but we all know I am basically a human thermo nuclear reactor.
While I was in the park, I noticed a chap exercising. He started by running on the spot then a few star jump type things. He then started walking. Backwards. Up a hill. He moved about ten feet at a time before stopping, turning around and checking there was nothing behind him before repeating it. What’s the benefit in that? Well, apart from getting better at walking backwards up a hill.
Mirinda didn’t get home until almost 11pm having spent a very long day from Holborn to Queen’s Park. Mind you, she visited the Wallace Collection then attended a musical presentation by some students, both of which she thoroughly enjoyed. She also experienced Critical Mass, a monthly event described as:
Whats [sic] ‘Critical Mass’?
Available online at: https://lists.riseup.net/www/info/cm-london
Critical Mass (CM) is a defiant celebration of cycling which takes place in hundreds of cities around the world. Cyclists, skaters, wheelchair users (in fact anyone self-propelled) all get togther [sic] on the last friday of every month and reclaim the streets for a couple hours to celebrate cycling.
Apparently, it attracts hundreds of cyclists and disrupts a lot of traffic for a short time. At least that’s what Mirinda’s taxi driver told her. I reckon there should be a Critical Mass walking event as well. Maybe on the second last Friday of every month, when lots of pedestrians just walk along the road, enjoying the freedom of the street rather than the crowded narrowness of the footpaths.
In the meanwhilst, our tiny yellow roses are still blooming.

Naw, there’s no climate change, Julia.
