Our little family is back together again after being apart since May 29. Mirinda arrived this morning at around 7am and the dogs went crazy. Again. Everything, almost instantly, had been returned to normal.
It was even more ‘normal’ at lunchtime when we went to the Holly Bush.
Mind you, the menu has changed a bit. Though the crispy salt and pepper squid is still on it. Which we shared as a starter. Then I had a lovely bit of sea bass while Mirinda went for some brined chicken. And beer. Obviously, I had beer. All delicious.
After a most satisfying lunch, Mirinda took the girls for a walk around Farnham Heath, something she’s really missed, while I went shopping at the Frensham Food Hall. I promised moussaka for tomorrow night and needed some ingredients.
I was quite pleased to see the food hall has stopped supplying bags. The woman at the check out was a bit wary when telling me. Apparently, a lot of customers have been somewhat displeased at this newest step towards the death of plastic. I assured her it was a positive step and I was happy. She then smiled and pointed towards the big bin full of cardboard boxes, one of which I used to transport my purchases back to Max.
I then sat, in the warm, afternoon, windless sunshine and read, while I waited for Mirinda and the dogs. My view was the pond alongside the garden centre.
It was lovely to be home yesterday, but it was even more so today, when all four of us are together again.
Back at home, we were starting to flag quite early. While Mirinda had had a bit of a doze when she arrived, I had been awake since 5am waiting for her. And, of course, there was the jet lag to contend with. I started dinner early.
In honour of being together and for my first meal back in Chez Gaz, I prepared lamb chops and Romanian cauliflower cheese. Both went down a treat.
It also didn’t create a lot of washing up. I think I was in bed by 9pm and was almost instantly asleep.
