The Frangletons and I went to visit David Reavell in Dunstable today. We had a good run on both the M25 and M1 – extraordinary.
Had a nice day. David and Carole are lovely. Very hospitable and generous. At one point Denise showed her ignorance by getting a bit voracious about the Aborigines. She claims the stolen generation didn’t really happen. I’m not sure who she has been listening to but it frightened me to think people would believe it. There was also a lot of chat which centred on how horrible Americans are, Moslems and just about everyone else in the world apart from the UK and Oz.
I felt very out of place a few times. It occurred to me that if you combine Denise and Peter’s opinions on these subjects with their homophobia, and there seems little hope that Kelly and Drew will ever amount to very much.
I was constantly biting my tongue whenever Peter started flapping his pathetic attempts at humour. He is such a prat.
Anyway, David made me a video copy of the interview he did with grandad.
Back to work tomorrow. Relief.
