And so it goes

In a repeat of yesterday, this morning was awash with torrential rain and wild winds. Unfortunately, rather than lie on the lounge, warmly watching it lash against the glass, I had to go shopping. I looked at the Met forecast. Rain until 10am. I figured I’d survive.

Obviously, I’m still wearing shorts (the temperature hasn’t gone below 14° yet) which is good because I really dislike wearing wet jeans. Wet shorts aren’t so bad.

Strewn along the path were sticks, logs and whole branches as the wind whipped the trees into a frenzy. That made things a little scary.

Of course, having been soaked, by the time I left Waitrose and was on my way home, the sun came out and the day became beautiful. And so it remained.

The clocks went back last night so, I reasoned, last week I wouldn’t have been drenched because I’d have left home an hour later.

Hey ho. Or, as Vonnegut wrote “And so it goes.

Still, as I said, the weather improved a million percent. Mirinda took the girls for a walk and I cooked a roast. It turned out to be a lovely Sunday. This was a very good thing because today marked the beginning of hygge. The candles and table cloth were brought out and campfire hours once more reigned.

Not forgetting today’s winter window scene.

This is on the small window of The Lion and the Bear down the Lion and Lamb Yard. I described it to Mirinda as the side of a brick building and a tree. She didn’t think that sounded very appealing. I may have undersold the actual image.

Something I read on Twitter today: The collective noun for a group of climate change deniers should be an extinction. That sounds about perfect to me.
