One of the main things I’m going to miss about Blockley is the cafe. And not just for the cafe itself. The staff have been so friendly. They have made us feel most welcome, even to the extend of remembering my order (never an easy thing). There’s also the food, which is excellent but, most of all, our morning trips for coffee will certainly be missed.
The trip home (all 2.5 hours of it) was pretty uneventful. Well, apart from the fact that Maxine decided we wanted to go via the M25 rather than via the Basingstoke bypass. I really have to work out how to tell her which route to choose.
In saying that, I don’t think it would have taken a lot longer but it is further. And that seems wrong to me. Though I am thinking of ignoring climate change given that seems to be the thing now. Sorry, kids.
Back at home we were greeted by a (thankfully) empty house. Neighbour Dave had been generously watering things for us though the drip systems seemed to work perfectly as well with my tomato system getting a generous top up of water. Thanks Dave.
The biggest item of interest, however, was that Shirley is having her babies!
Then, of course, the best thing of all. We went and picked up the girls. They went delirious and wouldn’t let us out of their sight for the rest of the day. And night.
It’s always a relief that they missed us as much as we missed them.
There was a massive storm in the late afternoon which swamped the extension while I sheltered in my office. It goes to show that Mirinda’s inside/outside space is a real thing. It also shows that leaving the big doors open will allow water in.
Another thing is that tiles are very easy to mop up.
The storm managed to reduce the temperature though the humidity remained.
