Into the wet good night

Today it just rained. It was raining when I woke up, eased up a little bit so I could go shopping, rained on my way home and was raining when the sun went down. I’m thinking this is in order to fill the water butts because they were both bone dry after the very short heatwave we had. This is a good thing because, given the amount of rain we’ve had, a hose pipe ban is sure to follow.

Needless to say we didn’t do much that involved leaving the house. We had sort of planned to go to the Summer Garden Show at Loseley. Actually, we should all spare a thought for the organisers of the Summer Garden Show at Loseley. Weekend after weekend of brilliant sun and blue sky spread out across the country for months and then, on the one weekend they want to have an open air garden show, it pours down both days. That’s going to be pretty depressing.

Mirinda worked on her DBA while I made a loaf of walnut bread. It’s not something I’ve made before but it is seriously nice with a bit of butter spread on it. I’m thinking it should work well with cream cheese. I’ll have to try when I get some.

As well as cooking (we had Joey Layer Cake for dinner which means a few bits and pieces need preparing beforehand) I worked on the Wikipedia entry for Charles John Mare which was not very good. Now it is better. I then started turning the 2011 blog entries into an ebook for Mirinda.

The poor puppies just lazed around the house.

The garden looks very verdant and jungly in that photo.

And the rain was a very enjoyable change. Did the butts fill up?
