Twice in one week

On the weekend just gone, I received an email from Christine saying she was not feeling well and could I take over her presenting job next Thursday. Of course, having nothing on, I said yes. Today was Thursday.

I left the dogs with some bones and headed off early, stopping at Starbucks on the way. I was rather dismayed to find all the best seats taken by people with laptops. Very annoying. I had to make do with mine on my actual lap.

Leaving for the walk to the studio I spotted this rather forlorn result of some driver’s inattention.

Scary!

Of course I arrived at the studio too early which meant I could take it easy preparing things for my readers.

This week I had the always delightful Lindsey, the lyrically joyous Katherine and Alistair who I’m never sure is still with us sometimes. My engineer was Pete who is always worth a laugh and this week I had the pleasure of meeting Jane, a new engineer-in-training.

To say we were well behaved would be a compete and utter lie. It was rather raucous in the studio and I think everyone else had fun. I know I did. And Alistair survived so that’s a good thing.

As I left, Judy arrived. I swapped with Judy the other week during the big freeze when she had the chance to see Hamilton and I haven’t seen her since. I asked her how it was. She said it was fabulous and she was very effusive in her thanks for my valiant swap. Of course it’s the one that was cancelled but even so…

Walking home the weather turned decidedly warm. It had been drizzling when I left but by 2pm it was sunny, bright and boiling. Actually I think it was about 11 degrees so boiling maybe a bit of an exaggeration. Though it was plenty hot in my raincoat.

That’s not to say that there wasn’t a hint of something wet in the sky. Black clouds were massing in the east as I walked down West Street.

Black and brooding

I eventually reached home and collapsed, shortly before Mirinda arrived.

Actually there was a very odd dog ignore moment when Mirinda arrived home. She even stood on the terrace but still they ignored her.

Emma was busy chasing something around my office and Freya was having a rather animated chat with a squirrel.

Eventually Mirinda started walking down the path and when they finally saw her, they went delirious.

It was very funny.
