After the pure, unadulterated excitement and adventure of the last few days, I fell down to earth today. Most of it was spent writing about the pure, unadulterated excitement and adventure of the last few days with a fair bit of bibliographical work for Mirinda.
She is currently working on Assignment 4 for her DBA. She wants to submit it before we go away so the big push is on to complete.
It’s probably a good time to discuss Castor. Castor is an Alsation who lives down our road. He and Rodney don’t get on. I’ve probably talked about their rather strained relationship before so I won’t go into too much detail about that. Suffice it to say that Rodney is encouraged to give Castor a wide berth.
Our two, according to Sue, have a great relationship with Castor, especially Freya although she’s only about the size of his head. Emma, I imagine, probably pretty much ignores him because that’s what she does to most dogs. I think she learned that from Day-z.
Yesterday when I arrived home from all the pure, unadulterated excitement and adventure, Mirinda wasn’t home. She was walking the dogs at Thursley. I knew this because I have an app that tells me where her phone is. Normally it’s a bit pointless because the phone is in her library but this time she had it with her.
While there and walking along one of the narrow tracks, they were suddenly confronted by a big fluffy Alsation and it’s human. Emma suddenly took fright then took flight running along the track as fast as her legs would take her. Mirinda said it was quite odd, even for Emma. The guy with the Alsation kept going towards Emma who was sat a long way away, watching intently.
Eventually the guy moved off the track enough for Emma to get by with Mirinda constantly calling her. Freya, meanwhile hadn’t moved from Mirinda’s side, as if nothing had happened.
Now, what Mirinda thinks is that Emma has had a run-in with Castor and is now frightened of all big fluffy Alsations. What I think is that Rodney has told Emma, in one of their chats through the Higgledy Piggledy Palisade, not to talk to Castor because he’s horrible.
Whatever the reason behind Emma’s sudden dislike for fluffy Alsations, there seems to be a bit of wholesale Castor dislike in the street at the moment. Personally, I’ve never had a problem with him or even seen any kind of aggressive behaviour on his part. Not that I’m saying that Rodney is making it up or that Emma’s newly discovered fear is without cause, but he’s always seemed quite placid to me. As long as Freya is around, I hope he remains that way.
And just a short story about a moth.
I was in the shower and I noticed a moth on one of the tiles in the bathroom. I thought it was an odd place to be given the light had been on and other parts of the room are a good deal brighter than the tiles. Still, it was happily resting on the wall. (Do they have suction cups on their feet? How do they just stay there?)
Suddenly, as if inhabited by the spirit of Bonzai, it leapt onto my foot. I looked down, wondering what kind of mad moth it was.
I’m not bothered by small creatures landing on my feet in the shower given nothing in this country can kill me (it might be different in Sydney) so I just kept my foot out of the water so it could fly away. It didn’t.
From the relative safety of my foot, the moth flew straight and with great determination, into the maelstrom around the plughole. It didn’t take long before it vanished into the darkness.
Had everything just got too much for it? Is there such a thing as moth depression? Or was it high on some sort of moth stimulant? Had it been licking the cleaner off the tiles?
It was an odd way to end the day. For the moth as well as for me.
Wow I don’t remember seeing Castor you will have to show him to me. what an adventure for the moth. Love mum xxxx
