Today was a bit of a rest day in our house. Yesterday’s long walk took it out of us, somewhat. Mirinda has a sore leg which, as a result, is sore-r and I seem to have strained a tendon. Nothing serious but it means we spent most of the day inside the house.
I decided to try a Persiana recipe for our roast this week. Basically it amounts to a spatchcock each, liberally rubbed with a mixture of preserved lemons, oil and Za’atar. A spatchcock is like a little chicken. The meat is more tender, particularly when rubbed with a lovely marinade.
I also knocked up a batch of Savoury Swirls (as we call them) to nibble on.

I forgot to mention in the last post that we watched Pride and Prejudice and Zombies…finally. What a cack! Loved the Ass Kicking Bennet Sisters. (And Cerce Lanister with an eye patch.)
The highlight, of course, was seeing the bits filmed at Frensham Little Pond though we had to watch the deleted scenes to see the line of carriages which, like Lizzie B, Mirinda peeked into.
It was a lot of fun and combined both of our interests – Jane, the undead and Frensham. Perfect.

That sounds great or though I have never heard of a spatchcock a little chicken, and love the look of the savoury swells yum. Oh I remember when you told me about the film they did at Frenshan Good on ya Miranda I would have done that. The film sounds really good.
Love mum xx
