Today was a bit overcast and humid so it looks like summer has arrived. No rain at all or even a hint, just grey clouds and sticky air.

Mirinda spent most of the day working on her doctorate while I had a bit of a relax. Well, after making tonight’s dessert which eventually looked a little something like this:

It was pretty delicious, I have to say. I was going to make something from my new favourite cookbook but you really can’t beat Rachel for pudding if you ask me. Though dinner was from my new favourite cookbook.

We don’t normally have steak (British beef is nowhere near as nice as Australian) but this was too good to miss. It was really yum though a bit fiddly to make. Worth it though.

That makes it sound like my entire day was spent in the kitchen. Not so. Late in the day we took the girls for a walk at Frensham Little Pond. And it was here that our Unexpected Event happened.

We were up on the ridge and a line of five tractors drove along one of the tracks down in the valley. Most unexpected. We later saw them parked outside the Wheatsheaf pub in Tilford. I assume they are involved in the Open Farm Day tomorrow and were out for a test run.

Sadly our walk was almost ruined by the annoying humans who think driving cars through Frensham Little Pond is a clever idea but we soon forgot them as we took in the delights of the landscape.

It was with surprise that we noticed how some of the fishing swims have been fenced off on the south side of the pond. We can only think that while cars are permitted to do whatever they like to the environment and landscape, fishermen can’t sit on coolers all day dreaming of marlin. Strange kind of priority.

It’s even worse when you think of how responsible dog walkers have to be. We are admonished for every little thing but give a moron a car and he (for it’s usually a ‘he’) can do whatever he wants. Literally.

Anyway, ignoring that…our walk around the pond was still delightful.

And here’s a couple of four legged fans who totally enjoyed the walk:
