The Higgledy Piggledy Palisade is almost complete.
Today I managed to clear the terrace of stakes. I sharpened those that needed it then bashed them into the ground. I need to order about 15 more (in three sizes) and it will be complete.
Using muscles I haven’t used for many years, my forearms start aching very quickly. It’s not just wielding the lump hammer. It’s also using the hatchet to sharpen the ends.
This means taking breaks every few stakes. This is when I do other things in the garden.
Like today I transplanted a strappy red hot poker from the Hot Border to where the lollipop rose refused to grow. I’m hoping this doesn’t affect the growing ability of the poker.
And what a beautiful day to be working outside. All blue skies and sunshine. The shorts were out and I worked up a bit of a sweat. The temperature actually managed to reach 18!
Of course we headed to the park after lunch where we met an insane dog called Pickle. She was quite big and amazingly fast. She ran up to our two, wanting to play but put Freya off by being too big and galumphing.
Pickle’s owner staggered up the hill to collect her, moaning that she could do with a bit of Pickle’s energy. Pickle taunted her by running away just as she reached her.
I don’t know why the photo above looks a bit miserable. The sun must have gone behind a mysterious cloud. It was much lovelier really.
So lovely in fact that there were people everywhere just lying about on the grass. I have to be careful about that because Freya sees them as fair game once they get as low as her.
Back at home I went back to the garden while the dogs slept in the sun.
A blissful day.

Well hope this doesn’t to it twice like every other day, those blue flowers are lovely. Its a shame the sun went in just then as it always looks great down the avenue of trees. your not used to that sort of work (getting old). Love mum xxxx
