Duck Porridge

We have both fallen in love with Crossrail so it’s no surprise that we keep returning for Date Night. It was a tough call walking passed Sticks & Sushi tonight but we did and went to Chai Ki instead.

Yet another amazing restaurant. It specializes in Punjabi food and it’s superb. At one point during dinner Mirinda asked me what unexpected thing happened today. Along with a few other things, the eating of duck porridge was high on my list.

Another unexpected thing was running into a woman and her dog called Teasle…or Teasel. She was very wary because poor Teasel had been attacked by dogs before (not in the park she hastened to add) and was just recovering from a back injury.

She didn’t say whether the back injury was as a result of one of the dog attacks but Teasel was taking things easy and mad, boisterous dogs were not on the agenda.

She was fine with Freya. In fact she said she knew another little cockerpoo called Freya. That is very annoying. She didn’t know another cockerpoo called Emma though. So that was something.

Anyway, while we were standing chatting (and Emma was maniacally chasing her ball) another dog approached us. This dog didn’t look as playful as our three and the woman was suddenly on guard, taking hold of Teasel’s collar.

The thing with this other dog was it’s owner who was walking about a mile in front of it. He turned back at one point and called but the dog took no notice of him. The owner kept walking.

This was ridiculous behavior by a dog owner. Both the woman and I agreed on that. She then wandered off while Freya tried to ingratiate herself with this new dog.

Then Emma came up and gave a weird high pitched bark before running off for her ball again.

The rest of our walk was uneventful and the bits of the day either side were spent on housework and kennel section tidying up until it was time to head into town.

Meanwhile back at Date Night…before we hit the restaurant, we stopped off for the now traditional rum cocktail…

All up, it was a lovely day and even lovelier night…if you ignore the long, dull and smelly train ride home.

Oh, and the duck porridge was delicious. A bit spicy but totally delicious.
