The day started sunny though there was a gloomy gathering of threatening clouds while I Skyped with mum.
In fact, by the time I’d finished lunch and we were off up the park, the sky was once more blue and the sun was almost warm.
Apart from Freya making friends with a woman who was happily eating her lunch on a bench and another woman who couldn’t stop giggling, the littlest of us all had a reasonably quiet time. She would half heartedly chase Emma when Emma chased the ball but that was about it.
It was while we were searching for the ball at one stage that the most exciting thing happened. We confused poor Day-z.
She’d stopped for a bit of a scratch while we went ball hunting. I looked back at one stage and she was standing trying to work out where we’d gone.
I called and whistled but, of course, she’d didn’t hear me. She decided to head off to her right as opposed to straight ahead where we were.
This put her in the middle of the Avenue of Trees and she confidently started heading away from us, tail high. This time she stopped when I whistled.
Then, as quickly as she’d stopped she started off again, this time towards home, over the hill.
I called her and whistled but nothing would stop her. I figured I’d have to chase after her when Emma suddenly realized what was going on.
Leaving her tennis ball at my feet, Emma went running after Day-z. And it worked. Emma ran in front of Day-z then headed back to me. And Day-z took the hint, happily trotting towards us.
Emma got a big cuddle and extra praise for that. What a clever girl she is.
By the way, the rain held off…today.
Oh that’s so cute. Do you think she really did that deliberately?
That is wonderful to think she knew what to do.poor Day-z terrible getting old don’t I know
