I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned before how much I love it when Park Lane is closed to traffic. Well, imagine my instantly joyfulated mood when I discovered this after leaving the park.
Yes, they are doing some, obviously, essential work on the Nelson Arms which requires scaffolding. So, of course, cars must be stopped from entering. I felt very slightly sorry for the people who are unaware and find they have to go round the one-way system rather than take their customary short cut to Castle Street.
Actually, that’s a lie. I couldn’t care less. I just really like the fact that I don’t have to squeeze onto the inadequate footpath when stupidly massive cars decide their comfort can only be improved by forcing me off the lane. I mean, it saves them at least five minutes of sitting down.
Anyway…enough of that.
I forgot to mention last week that the new Adventure Playground has finally been opened. Overall it cost £96,000 and the design is intended to reflect the Castle as it would have been in the 12th century.
Apparently it was the favourite design of residents who took part in the pubic consultation (I didn’t hear about it!).
I think that my favourite bit of it are the dog hitching posts. There are signs around the area saying that dogs are not allowed (and this has always been the case) and they’ve supplied these wonderful, dog headed posts for playground visitors with a pet.
I agree about the cars, love the dog hitching post love mum xx
What a great idea to design it to reflect the castle. And also a great idea to have amusing dog hitching posts.
