Today we went and saw Into the Woods at the Caloundra cinema. I have a few complaints.
Why on earth don’t they have a list of what films are on and at what times in the ‘foyer’? Apparently they used to, according to Mum. I had to go online at home (given my phone is not roaming because of the massive Oz charges) where it said 1pm which was wrong anyway. Apart from this minor inconvenience, surely it’s only common sense to let people know what films are on and when.
The roof is made of sheets of glass making the top floor (where you have to wait before entering the cinema) feel like the top shelf in a greenhouse. Sitting there for ten minutes would be bad but, when you’re ridiculously early because their times changed, it’s like Dante’s Inferno without the nice bits.
Also, my foot was killing me but I can’t blame anyone for this so I’m just putting it in the general mix.
As for the film…it was fantastic! Thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden and a wonderful turn as the wolf by Johnny Depp, all contributed to making it a delight.
There was one part when the witch was visiting Rapunzel at her tower and I thought it looked familiar. It was. They filmed it at Waverley Abbey. Good old fairy tale Surrey.
