I had planned to go to the football with Nicktor today but last night it occurred to me that I’ll be away for almost three weeks from tomorrow and won’t see Mirinda at all. I cancelled Nicktor and we spent the day together instead. It’s a pity the weather was rubbish but at least it wasn’t wet.
We started with fog (presumably the same fog that prevented Bob taking off from Heathrow first thing), which I successfully navigated through to get to Farnham. The rest of the day was grey and quite chilly (was 2 degrees, felt like -1…or so Mirinda’s Little Friend claimed).
(Speaking of Bob, as I was, one of the reasons (possibly the main one) for his trip to the frozen wastes of Northern Finland was in order to see the Northern Lights. Mirinda had a text tonight saying he was in the car going to the Lodge when the driver pulled over so they could all see the Northern Lights. Bob said it was too cold to stay very long so they continued on their way shortly afterwards. The temperature was about -20. Mirinda texted him to say he could come back now.)
After a nice quiet lunch we set off for Frensham. The dogs were very pleased. Emma was so delighted that she threw up on the back seat of poor Sidney. She does this a lot. She doesn’t like the car. She doesn’t care once we’re walking. And it is one of the reasons we have a blanket on the back seat.
The other reason is because they get filthy…which then transfers onto the blanket. But it’s a lot easier to clean than Sidney’s back seat.
The plan had been to walk to the new cafe and have a coffee/tea while admiring the view. Not that there was much of a view today. The fog saw to that. And we didn’t time it very well. The cafe closes at 3pm and we arrived at about 4:30pm.
So we continued back to the car in our clockwise fashion, getting home as the sun went down.
We then popped some popcorn in the microwave and enjoyed the first disc of The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug extended version which I bought Mirinda for Christmas. We then had an intermission as I made dinner and we ate it.
The second half was as good as the first but eventually it was finished and Mirinda went to bed. I stayed up in order to be tired for my long plane trip tomorrow.
It was a lovely day, spent with my little family.
Yes they are going to miss you, especially going to Sue”s although they love it there.
