Henry VIII’s place

Joe Cocker died today. He was an incredible talent and a major part of my growing up. Because of his Mad Dogs tour, I discovered Leon Russell, who changed my musical taste quite a bit. Sadly, poor Joe was often taken advantage of by his massive retinue simply because he was such a nice guy.

Anyway, enough of that…I was up nice and early then I went back to sleep for another hour. Bob and the Hassells were due at about 10:30 so I set off for the shops. The plan was for them to all go to Hampton Court Palace while I stayed home for a rest. And a chance to catch up on some washing and general housework.

As it was, the Hassells didn’t turn up till about 11 while Bob preceded them by about half an hour. As soon as I got home from Farnham, I Skyped with Mum for a lovely hour of chat even though she was feeling a bit poorly (I reckon she’s managed to contract Bob’s bug…somehow).

Eventually they all left and I settled back to wash some clothes, eat some lunch and watch some American Horror Story Asylum. It was all very good.

I also found time to book my flight to Brisbane for January and wrap some presents.

They eventually returned around 6pm and we all had tea and coffee before they left for the cottage. The original plan had been to have dinner with them but this plan changed sometime in the day and so we stayed at home and had leftover quiche and cheese on toast. Oh, and Hampton Court Palace was great, Mirinda and Bob said. I’m not sure what the Hassells thought though they all looked a bit tired.

Tomorrow we’re off to visit Sophie and Tom on the Isle of Wight.
