Sophie and Tom came over for lunch today.
It was a pity the weather was rubbish. I managed a thorough soaking on my walk into Farnham first thing. Fortunately I wore my raincoat so it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. (Of course the path tops were all covered in their own raincoats made of thick black plastic, in an attempt to keep them as dry as possible.)
Mirinda picked the three course menu (scallops, tuna and egg galette and syllabub Marrakesh) this week though I was a bit sceptical about Tom eating scallops.
They arrived at about 11:30 and we had a lovely chat and wander about. They’d seen the extension a few months back and it was interesting noting the changes. Sophie LOVED the new pictures and the sudden appearance of gold. She’s a bit mad for the gold.
At 1 o’clock we sat down to lunch and, amazingly, Tom devoured his scallops saying he really liked them. He wasn’t so keen on the galette and he never eats dessert. Actually, I never bother serving him a dessert – Mirinda usually has his the next day.
After eating our fill, Mirinda and Sophie walked into Farnham while Tom and I watched The Nightmare Before Christmas, which seems to have become Tom’s favourite movie. It shows how he’s getting older because he also watched (and enjoyed) most of the ‘making of’ special feature. The disc also included a couple of Tim Burton’s early short films which we started watching but which Tom found a bit too scary…so we stopped.
He wanted to have a nerf gun battle but was a bit worried about Emma getting hurt so we didn’t.
Anyway, all up, another lovely visit which was all too soon over, with the thought that, perhaps over Christmas, we might visit them on the Isle of Wight.
Wow!! He is growing up getting tall. not a little boy any more.
love mum and dad xx
