On our last night in Vienna, we went to the oldest, continuous restaurant…the one that Mozart ate at. When we left, they gave us the bill, along with a postcard, showing the restaurant a while ago, in black and white. Sadly, the postcard isn’t dated but I’d say it’s sometime between 1910 and 1940.
After sorting through my photos of the trip, and putting some on Flickr, I realised I’d, accidentally, taken an almost identical shot as the postcard. I thought it would be a nice idea to put them side by side to see the changes.
There’s not a lot! Well, apart from the big sign, the removal of a few roof windows, the plants growing on the wall and the whole face of the front door. And the cars…there’s a lot more cars now.
As for the rest of the day…the weather continues awful so most of it was spent indoors (Mirinda went swimming but, apart from shopping, my day was spent inside).
As usual, New Years Eve was spent watching Graham Norton, a bit of stand up (this year it was Dara O’Briain on top form) and, finally, Jools Holland’s Hootenanny. And, I’m pleased to report, Mirinda stayed awake as well and we both saw the new year in together.
We’re hoping that 2014 is going to be a whole lot better than 2013.
Yes you can see the difference in the two photos the car in the one they gave you looks a lot older and yes shame they didn’t date it.Trust footie was good?
