Fun and laughter

Today, Norman was in fits of laughter. He found it quite difficult to do his job properly, he was laughing so much. Spare a thought for poor Norman.

Before I go on to explain why poor Norman found himself in such dire straits, let me explain the photographs in this post. They were taken during our walk in the park. I realise I’ve been a bit remiss in including images so have sprinkled them through this one. They, clearly, have nothing to do with the post.

But…back to Norman and his temporary affliction. He was laughing because Prudence, Christine, Rosemary and I made him. We were merciless and firing on all cylinders. It was such a lot of fun, though Norman wasn’t so sure it was all that good for his health…as he explained to John.

Norman was our engineer at Talking Newspaper today. We were reading the Haslemere edition and the news wasn’t good. I mean, it wasn’t bad news but it was all pretty dull. Prudence mentioned the fact that we would be hard pressed to make any of it even remotely interesting. Of course, I saw this as a challenge.

I should say here that I believe I had THE best team of readers this week. All three ladies have an amazing dry humour and they all bounce off each other. The perfect combination when Gary’s feeling mischievous. Which he was.

So we went like mad things through the paper, dragging out every single even slightly funny thing and exploding it onto the recording. Actually, that’s not exactly correct. We, basically, tried to make each other laugh and succeeded very well.

I’m fairly certain that the listeners won’t notice. Who did notice was the next group, waiting in the editing room when we emerged in fits from the studio. When Janice (the next presenter) asked me how our session went, I explained it had been dull and boring. All of her readers looked in disbelief, stating that they’ve all read with me and that was never going to be the case.

During our editing session, my three ladies said they all liked reading for me because some presenters take far too long to get through it all. Unlike me. I told them that a quick session was a good session cos we can all go home early. They all agreed completely.

And so, we had a thoroughly great time. I really wish I could have the same three ladies every time I record an edition.
