Flantastic lunch

Today we had a wonderful lunch with Richard and Kate and their three girls. I’m afraid Bertie is missing from the photo.

Kate cooked up a veritable storm of quiches, onion tarts and pear and almond dessert. We were thoroughly spoilt. Even the oddly named wine was superb.

We were quite impressed with their street as well. It’s just off Marrickville Road and yet it’s quite quiet…well, until the planes start leaving Mascot. Even so, the street has a lovely feel to it with some wonderful trees.

We ate out the back, under the verandah, along the long table. It was perfect.

We spent a delightful afternoon, chatting, catching up, planning their trip to Europe…the usual things. Apart from Dotty almost losing a toe under the rustic rocking chair, the girls were very happy and, in the best tradition of these things, vanished into the house as soon as they’d finished eating, leaving the adults to laugh and cuss and joke and debate. I love that in children.

But, as all good things must do, we were eventually forced to leave.
