According to Ann-Marie Edwards, the author of In The Steps of Jane Austen, this church (St Mary's) and village, was the inspiration for Barton in Sense & Sensibility. It was where Elinor Dashwood married Edward Ferrars. The church was fabulous...or so my journal says.
