The alleys of Farnham

I’ve realised that there are quite a few alleys in Farnham. A few I’ve included in previous posts but the one below is (sort of) new to me. I say ‘sort of’ because I have been down it before but not for a long time.

Alley

It brings you out on Castle Street, opposite a row of houses a few doors up from the Nelson Arms and a few down from the castle. Which explains why I haven’t walked down it for a while. Walking down Long Garden Walk is a lot more sensible given it brings me out opposite the Giggling Squid. Anyway, in the interests of location, this is the view when you emerge from the alley:

The Nelson Arms is the next building to the right

As you can see, it was still a bit misty today though not as bad as yesterday. It was also slightly warmer. So much so that I didn’t bother with a fleece this morning when I headed for the gym. I’m glad I didn’t bother because I’d have only worn it round my waist all the time I was in town and walking home.

I was in Farnham a little longer than usual as I had a meeting with Matt about the sale of the cottage.

We had a very successful meeting, making all sorts of future plans for Cottage Disposal. We also discussed the Mighty Shots and his football playing son. He’s a lovely chap and just a pity he hasn’t been our agent for years. He would have sorted the tenant out with a lot more skill than we’ve had from the present lot.

Speaking of the tenant, Matt also filled me in on what the place looks like now. He described the tenant as a bit ‘hippie-dippy’ with some very odd ideas about home decoration and gardening. Actually her gardening amounts to letting it grow and to hell with the view. Matt said you can no longer see the fields across the road from the garden.

One of the plans will be to get our gardeners over there and make it a little more presentable. I can just imagine Gardener Dave, tutting and shaking his head then ploughing into it with a bit of orderly devastation and recreation. The thing with Gardener Dave is his ability to turn a disturbed space into an orderly one with minimum fuss.

Something I found quite disturbing as I left Starbucks, was the beginning of the Christmas Tree Erection in Lion and Lamb Yard. Surely it’s too early for that sort of malarkey? It’s only just November.

That’s what I said when they started putting lights on all our trees in Caloundra but what they have done is left them on all the year round and they look lovely. That’s a funny little lane a bit creepy. Mitch and Nathallie party was great her dad Yanus said to say hi and wish you were there, love mum xxxxxx
