Anything went

Saw Anything Goes at the Ambassadors in Woking. Such great songs and a fun story.

Gemma Craven was pretty good as Reno Sweeney though she didn’t quite have that Ethel Merman voice to carry off all the songs.

Jonathon Morris, playing the male lead was appalling. He was so gay…literally. His dancing was a parody – sort of like what you’d do at an after show party with a few gallons of alcohol inside you. His voice, while not flat, was boring and his acting was too stereotypical. In short and being plain, he was just awful.

Nevertheless, the musical carries itself because of Cole Porter’s wonderful songs.
